What
are the steps to have my website up and running?
There are
2 possible scenarios:
Having full cooperation of your current hoster.
Having No cooperation of your current hoster.
Having full cooperation of your current hoster
is the best situation.
If we have that, what you need to do is the following:
- Keep your current hosting service for as long
as necessary. You must keep your current hoster
until we have fully tested your website and made
everything is woking properly. We will let you
know when it is safe to cancel your current hoster.
- Ask your current hoster to change the TTL to
1 millisecond or the least possible for the type
A records. This has to be done as soon as possible.
This will avoid downtime.
- Ask your current hoster to change the IP for
the type A records. We will provide you with the
IP.
www (ie.www.domain.com)
root (ie.domain.com)
Doing this will allow us to go back to your old
website if required. After doing this we will
have the new website up and running. Your emails
will continue to go through your current hoster
until we make the final change with the company
in which you registered your domain.
- The final step is to change the DNS in the company
in which you have your domain registered. This
should be done after we fully tested your website
and made sure everything is working properly.
Once the DNS are changed, your website and emails
will go through our Server. Wait at least 72 hs
after this has been done, and you can cancel your
current hosting service.
If we don't have cooperation of your current hoster,
you should:
- Change the DNS in the company in which you have
your domain registered. The DNS will be provided
by us
- If your current hoster decides to stop providing
you with the service, what will happen is that
you will have downtime for at least 72 hs. Emails
also will have the same situation.
- If your current hoster continues to provide
you with the service, what will happen is that
visitors will sometimes be directed the new website,
and sometimes to the old website. This will stop
about 72 hs later and visitors will only go to
your new website. Emails also will have the same
situation.
Be aware that not having cooperation from your
current hoster will cause downtime for your website
and emails and will not let us go back to your
old website if anything happens.
